Background of this study: The researchers conducted a Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial. It was the first study of its kind to be reported outside of China. They tested the general effects of giving the fruit juice of GOJI BERRIES ( Lycium Barbarum ), to healthy adults for a period of 14 days.

 

They provided questionnaires to the individuals, asking them to rate on a scale of 0 to 5, their general feelings of well-being, Neurologic / Psychologic traits, GgastroIntestinal, MusculoSkeletal, and Cardiovascular complaints. They also inquired about any adverse effects. They also took measures of body weight, Body-Mass Index ( BMI ), blood pressure, pulse rate, and visual acuity, both before and after the subjects consumed either 120 mL of GoChi per day or the placebo control solution.

Results of the Study

The researchers measured and observed that there were significant differences between the first day and the last day of the study in the group of 16 individuals that were given the fruit juice of the Goji berries. They had increased ratings for energy level, athletic performance, quality of sleep, ease of awakening, ability to focus on activities, mental acuity, calmness, and feelings of health, contentment, and happiness.

 

Moreover, the supplementation of the GoChi also remarkably lowered both fatigue and stress. At the same time, it also helped to improve regularity of the GastroIntestinal function.

 

In contrast, the placebo group of 18 individuals showed only two significant changes. These were decrease in  heartburn and an increase in happiness.

 

The did not observe any significant improvements in MusculoSkeletal or Cardiovascular complaints in either the test group or the control group. Likewise, various other body markers, such as Body Weight essentially remained the same for the subjects in both groups and between the first day and the last day of the trial.

Conclusion of the Results of their Study

The results they found clearly indicated that consuming GoChi Juice from the Berries, for a period of 14 days increases subjective feelings of general well-being. Additionally, it  improves Neurologic / Psychologic performance and Gastro-Intestinal functions.

 

The data they acquired strongly suggests that further research is needed to confirm and extend their knowledge and understanding of the potential effects that consuming Lycium Barbarum ( contained in Goji Berries ) has upon improving human health.
